ASSISTANT TEACHER
We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our team at our DHS-licensed after-school program for elementary students. As an Assistant Teacher, you will work closely with the Head Teacher to support the daily operation of the program and ensure a safe and positive learning environment for all students. You will be responsible for assisting with classroom management, supervising students, implementing lesson plans, and communicating with parents and guardians.

Current certification in First Aid and CPR preferred

High school diploma or GED required, some college coursework in education or related field preferred

Minimum of 1 year experience working with elementary students in a structured setting, such as after-school programs, camps, or youth organizations

Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff

Knowledge of positive behavior management techniques and strategies

Ability to pass a background check and fingerprintng process

Must be available to work during program hours, typically Monday-Friday from 2:30pm-6:30p
RESPONSIBILITIES

Create a safe environment for children at all times
-
Build rapport with each individual child, make every child feel welcome in our program

Interact with children in a respectful and friendly manner

Assist the Lead Teacher with planning, preparing and implementing daily lesson plans

Supervise and engage with students during program activities and transitions

Ensure a safe and healthy environment for students by following safety and health procedures and reporting any incidents to the Lead Teacher or Site Director

Foster positive relationships with students and parents/guardians, and effectively communicate with them about the student's progress and behavior

Help manage student behavior through positive reinforcement and redirection techniques

Assist with maintaining accurate records and documentation related to student attendance, behavior, and progress

Collaborate with other program staff to support program goals and objectives

Attend regular staff meetings and professional development opportunities to maintain knowledge and skills in the field
LEARNING CENTER HOURS OF OPERATION: 2:15-5:45pm MONDAY-FRIDAY

Assistant Teacher must be able to commit to a minimum of two consistent days per week but may work up to five days

Compensation: $13-$15 per hour
